Safe-EPD
Simulated Personal Dosimeter
-
Key Features
• Nuclear Training without Real Sources.
• Operates using an STS radio frequency detection system which detects the presence of a simulated radiation field with the resultant reading displayed on the LCD Display.
• The Safe-Series of instruments offer the perfect solution for Ionising Radiation Training, Radiation Awareness Training and Homeland Security Training with simple intuitive controls, competitive pricing and low ongoing cost of ownership. -
Technical Specifications
• Runs off 2 standard AAA cells giving an operation time of over 10hrs.
• The Safe-EPD features a 2 line 16 character LCD backlit display with single user button for selecting dose and rate functions.
• Instrument on/off is by a recessed button on the side of the dosimeter and there is a administrator menu accessible via a pinhole switch.
• The menu allows users to set various parameters for the instrument including alarm threshold, dose and dose rate display, reading units (ySv or mR) and chirp rates. -
Additional Information
• STS Safe-EPD is not designed to be intrinsically safe and therefore should not be used in hazardous environments.
• Units are not waterproof and contain delicate and sensitive electronics which may be caused to fail if exposed to moisture.
• Units should be stored in a clean and dry environment, batteries should be removed if storing for more than 4 weeks.
• The Safe-EPD uses the Safe-MiniSource as the field generator and will accumulate dose according to the proximity and shielding between the dosimeter and source.
• Rate of accumulation can be changed by using different Mini-Sources with different characteristics. Each source can be supplied programmed with a suitable isotope characteristic and activity level.
• Instrument response will be affected by environmental conditions such as the presence of large reflective surfaces, substantial metal structures and variable wall thicknesses. - Documentation
